Tramontina Limited Editions Series 1200 Enameled Cast Iron 5.5 qt. Covered Oval Dutch Oven

Issue resolved
This product came flawed, nick in the lid. It was packaged very well, so this flaw was at the manufacturing level (China). I bought it from Wayfair and contacted them regarding this. I was told they would send me a replacement lid.

Apparently, the company required the entire product be returned, and by the time I received this information, I had thrown the packaging away.

Long story short, Wayfair did give me a 10% credit off the product, I do appreciate that they worked with me.

As to the product itself, my husband cooked our Easter ham in it (as I had to work). He loved it, it is very heavy, holds heat well and Trivet is very sturdy with gripping feet.

I like the elegant look, and the handles make it easy to move which is a major plus as heavy as it is. It looks good on the table.

Staub 4 Quart Round Cocotte, Blue

Great cocotte for competent cooks.
Poor reviewer did not know what she was doing. I've been using Staub and Le Creuset cookware for years and have never had any trouble. They do take a bit more time to warm up since they are cast iron, but they hold their heat very well. Sticking has never been an issue for me at all and clean up is pretty easy. These types of dutch ovens are mainly for brazing meats and slow cooking(not for high heat applications). I've made many stews, braised beef/lamb dishes and even bread and they have all turned out great so far.

There are plenty of resources/recipes on the web to show you how this dutch oven is used and I suggest doing the research. If you buy great cookware like this, it will last you a lifetime and then some. The most important thing is to just get out there and cook.
Great Investment!
I can not recommend this dutch oven enough. Easy clean up, cooks evenly, and beautiful as well. I found mine at a steal at a bargain discount store but would be willing to pay full price for my next one. There are wonderful and worth every dollar if you use it often.
Lovely Staub quality, Description idiosyncrasies regarding color
Go to Staub's website for product details and why this French-made Enameled Cast Iron Dutch Oven is the best of the best and is of superior quality.

However, I will explain at the end how to correctly judge this description and know what you will get (you still won't be disappointed).

Yes all good features of a quality dutch oven. It has a tight sealing lid, proprietary basting spikes, nickel steel handle. The best part is the matte black enameled interior, this not only reduces the staining effects that are normal for enameled cast iron (I never understood why people complained about darkening Le Creuset, this is normal), but we have improving non-stick. Enameled CI REDUCES not eliminates sticking, and is acid safe to prevent iron leeching with low & slow acidic cooking.

You will find that the matte black interior improves with very light oiling with of a neutral tasting oil with relative high smoke oil (I tend use non-virgin Sunflower or Canola)...

Tramontina Limited Editions Barazzoni 6 Quart Full-Clad Copper Exterior Covered Dutch Oven

My heart palpitates
and I sigh with pleasure when my eye catches my copper-clad Barazzoni hanging in my kitchen. Seriously. Okay, maybe I'm stretching the heart palpatation thing a bit--my heart does not really seem to be beating in my throat...But you should get the picture. I do--really--take a deep breath, and feel such pleasure, when I look at these few Barazzoni pots I have hanging on the side of a very old French cherry wood cabinet in my kitchen (thank you Command hooks).

So, obviously, the pots are beautiful. The design is called "Butterfly" and it was designed by Claudio Bellini. They feel good. They are a nice weight and the handles are soft and cool to-the-touch. The handles are on the slim side, but they still work fine for my long, thin fingers.

But do they perform? Yes, they do--perfectly. There are other pots out there that perform just as well, but these Barazzoni are much more elegant and beautiful. So, if you've got a nice high-paying, confortable job,...
I bought this as a gift thank Goodness I opened it first.
It looked like a great wedding gift. I am glad I opened the box and looked at it, what a horror... . Many places were discolored and the finish, gosh unbelievable. It was just terrible. For something at this price it should be beautiful not trash, it was even discolored at the rivets, that purple looks from over welding. Stay away from this company I guess the shipper must be okay but not the manufacturer gosh I am so glad I look ed. Perhaps at this s price the shipper should have looked. I am very unhappy, sending it back and its very close to wedding date. From now on I will stick to that M company from France. Their products are always so beautiful.

Demeyere Atlantis 8.9 Quart Casserole with Lid

Excellent pot of innovative design that works perfectly on my induction cooktop;
I like the uniformly heating base and relatively cool sides of this pot that maximizes energy efficiency. I considered the copper core All-Clad stockpot, but Demeyere custom configures their multi-layer configuration for each pot/pan configuration while All-Clad features the same core design on all their pots, compromising the performance of their saucepans and stock pots.

Calphalon Unison Sear Nonstick 5-Quart Dutch Oven Set

Just Shy of 5 Stars
I've been using Calphalon cookware for about 20 years. Some of my pieces are pretty worn out and frankly, I was getting a bit tired of always having to wash them by hand.

I have Professional Nonstick, Commercial Nonstick, Copper Triply, Stainless Triply, One, etc. etc. etc. Overall my pots and pans have served me very well and have taken an enormous amount of abuse. I lived in Mexico for several years and they came with me then and back again. I used to cook for 10-12 people every day, so they got a lot of use.

I hadn't been too tempted to retire my old workhorses, especially since the newer Calphalon lines were far from great. I HATED the new 'commercial' nonstick that I bought a few months ago. The pans were lighter and flimsy.

I saw the ads for Unison and was intrigued. Not so thrilled with the prices, but Amazon's great for comparison shopping.

I got this little set on Kitchen Kapers for [...], a bargain indeed. And 100% dishwasher-safe...
Exceptional Dutch Oven, Cleaning is a Breeze!
I had longed to buy the Calphalon Unison 5-Qt Dutch Oven at BBB, but found the price about $110 cheaper from Kismet on Amazon impossible to resist. This is a great pot that looks nice, heats very evenly and clean-up is a breeze! You can't go wrong with this one. Just bought another one this morning from J&R Electronics/Amazon for a wedding gift, even lower price than the first one I bought.
Great product
I love the Unison line, it is by far the best non stick surface I have ever used. After bad experiences with the Calphalon One line, this product worked surprisingly well. I went out and bought a number of other Unison pieces, this worked so well. This is on the small size, but perfect for a small family.

All-Clad Stainless 5-1/2-Quart Dutch Oven

My favorite pan
I bought this after reading a comparison of dutch ovens in "Cook's Illustrated." This one, along with I think LeCrueset, ranked highest (and this one was lighter-weight). I have not been disappointed. I use it for soups, stews, pot roast, etc. It conducts heat beautifully and even cleans up well. It's just a great tool.
Old Faithful
Well it's not that old, but it is my go-to pot for soups, stews and braising large pieces. Stainless steel is the best because I can put it in the dishwasher. It heats well because of the All-Clad technology. High sides make it an excellent pot for frying. I've seen folks use cast iron Dutch ovens. I'm not willing to give up "dishwasher safe" for a pot that weighs a ton.
I use this ALL the time
Don't let the price tag scare you - this pot will become one of the main tools in your kitchen. And you'll be hooked and you'll go back for more.

A few years ago I went to a famous kitchen store to purchase Le Creuset, but they were out of the size I wanted and the saleslady suggested this All Clad dutch oven. She said, "I'm waiting for my own Le Creuset to wear out so I can get one of these."

I took her advice, and I use this pot ALL THE TIME. At least once a week I use it to roast a whole chicken in the oven. I use it for spaghetti, casseroles, soup, jambalaya - anything. It works equally well in the oven or on the stove top. It's easy to clean - even oven-baked-on food comes off with a little soaking and a scrubber sponge.

I don't have a lot of money but I considered this a lifetime investment that was worth every penny. I am so sick of the cheap and flimsy Chinese products that have saturated the market. It is SO refreshing to find cookware that is...

All-Clad Copper Core Dutch Oven

Best of Dutch Ovens
Some years ago I was a professional chef, and I approach cooking in an analytical way, (cooking is science, plating is art). I learned the real value of slow cooking of some foods, especially in classical cuisine and much of ethnic cooking. The trick is a specialized slow-cook oven (expensive restaurant equipment) or a well-made Dutch oven. Assuming you are not reading this from the kitchen of a three star, the obvious choice is the Dutch oven.

My first really usable Dutch oven was a 50-year-old one, 18 pounds of solid aluminum! Eventually it pitted as to become unsafe. I've tried many of the current crop, and was very disappointed at the uneven heat distribution, with the propensity of food to caramelize and eventually burn at the transition point between the flat bottom and the sides (the metal thickness at this point is critical). In my testing, this pot is far and away the best designed, finished, and certainly the best cooking Dutch oven now being produced.

I purchased this...
Not Just Another Pot
Using anything as finely made as this is an education. Food cooks differently in this than it does in anything I've used previously. The level of control this allows is amazing, and the key to this is just how forgiving the cooking surface is. There are absolutely NO hot spots. You burn the stew in this pot, you may as well hang it up and condemn yourself to fast food. This 5-ply pot is the best thing that's ever happened to my kitchen.

This is the highest expression in cookware.
BUY THIS!
Yes, buy this dutch oven. I own over a dozen All-Clad pieces and this is far and away my favorite. It's impossible to burn food in this oven. It cooks so evenly and makes heavenly stews, pot roasts, etc. I start my stews and roasts on the cooktop and finish in the oven at 325 degrees for 1-2 hours. Everything comes out perfectly. This All-Clad piece cleans up very easily. If there is any food particles that my plastic scrubber doesn't remove, an hour's soak with 1/2 inch of vinegar in the bottom of the oven makes it like new. If I had just one piece of cookware to take to a desert island, it would be the All-Clad Copper Core Dutch Oven. If I had two pieces to take, I'd add my All-Clad Copper-core 10 inch fry pan.

BonJour Copper Clad 4-Quart Covered Dutch Oven

Heavier than All-Clad, take slightly longer to heat, hold heat longer.
Let me say this first, we have an All-Clad Copper Clad, 4 1/2 Qt, BonJour is 4 Qt, so they are not exactly the same. Without cover: All-Clad weights 3.15 lbs, BonJour is 5.4 lbs. We look at copper layer, the thickness are very similar. So we think the extra weight of BonJour is the result of thicker steel or albumin. The law of physic, the heavier the mass, the longer to heat up, but hold heat longer. To be honest, both Copper Clad don't cook that much different.
Many you may wonder, does it worth to pay more for Copper Clad? If you have gas stove, Copper Clad cooks only somewhat better, faster than regular Stainless Steel Clad. For Glass Top stove and Induction stove, the difference between Copper Clad and Stainless Steel is easily noticeable; we even feel, Copper Clad makes Induction cooking almost as good as Gas stove. If quick fire cooking is important to you, Copper Clad does big help; other kind of cooking, Stainless Steel may take longer, but you can save your money.
Didn't know good cookware could make this much of a difference
This is my first copper clad cookware. I have a few friends who had invested in clad software (they purchased All Clad) and raved about how good it is. I trust all of these magnificent cooks so I decided to take the plunge and buy a piece of clad software. I ran into a great sale on this particular piece of Bonjour and decided to purchase it.

This piece, the 4 Quart Covered Dutch Oven is 10" wide and only 4" high so I use it like a frying pan and a dutch oven.

I had no idea that great cookware could make so much of a difference. I can caramelize onions in half the time it took in my old pan (which was not bad, Cuisanart, just not great). You can use a little higher heat and the whole pan gets hot, even on a smaller burner.

And... it cleans up easier than my other cookware.

I am so in love with this cookware. Can't wait till I save up for more pieces.

Demeyere Atlantis 5.1 Quart Dutch Oven with Lid

Fantastic cookware,
This Dutch oven is a heavy weight, 7 ply vessel, with a 18/10 steel interior, silvinox finish and brushed steel exterior, much like the aluminium kadhais that my mother gave to me 15 years ago. It is simple in its design with no rivets inside the vessel, the handles have been welded solid. The lid sits well trapping heat inside and helps cook with little to no oil and water. Use it in the oven or on Induction top, no problem. No, the handles don't remain cool if you are cooking liquids. Cooking in it is still a delight, because it cooks and cleans up so well. Honestly, I don't miss the kadhais anymore. I had been looking for something similar to All-clad to replace the toxic aluminium and I read a lot of positive reviews about demeyere and all-clad but this came to me with an Amazon gift card that paid 50% off which I could not pass compared to an exorbitant All-clad deal. My choice between All-clad and Demeyere was also based on the fact that Demeyere is made by a family owned...
That's good item for cooking any type of food. I'm going to buy Demeyere's other size pot.
I recommend you buy this item. If you want a good pot can served as pot and pan.
It presented a good look and really cook food fast and good tasty.
Finest Dutch Oven Made
I own a few pieces of Demeyere cookware including this Atlantis Dutch Oven, the Proline 12.6" fry pan, and the Maxigrill. I wished I owned more of it as Demeyere cookware simply the best cookware available - bar none. Life would be a lot more pleasant if one could go through it with a complete set of Demeyere cookware.

A beautiful pan!
Bought this pan years ago, I have the Le Creuest, but wanted to match my other pieces and it is a lot lighter!Just beautiful sitting there, cooks same as the heavy ones, honest, no fear of chipping either.Love it, but I do wish the bottom was totally flat for more browning area like my other dutch ovens, my only complaint.

too light
biggest problem with these pots are the light weight. they will move around easily while cooking/stirring. and the thin lids will dent easy at the sealing area if dropped. love the non stick outer coating which is the best feature and very durable.

Mauviel M'cook 5130.03 0.9-Quart Mini Cocotte and Lid with Cast Stainless Steel Handle

Note the Dimensions/Capacity Are Wrong
The dimensions must be for the shipping box. The capacity is obviously wrong. A "mini" cocotte can't be just under 1 quart in capacity. So I went to Mauviel's site, and sure enough, the info here is wrong. Here's what the site said (this item holds just under two cups, and I believe the 3.5 inch size is diameter).

Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 7-1/4-Quart Round French Oven, Cherry Red

Heavy Duty Cooking at a Great Price
Anyone serious about Cooking should have at least one cast iron pot and Le Creuset is the best quality available today. The 7 quart pot is perfect for anything which requires long slow cooking either on the stovetop or in the oven: stews, baked beans, pasta fagioli, paella, cassoulet, soups, etc., etc. An iron pot takes longer to heat up than say stainless steel or aluminum but it holds heat longer than either. I have even used my Le Crueset on the BBQ to bake a cake or make cornbread so as not to heat up the kitchen in the summer. In fact, this past summer when the electricity went out, I even made all the components of Lasagna Bolognese as well as baking it complete in my Le Crueset on the BBQ. It was round, shaped like a cake but it was delicious. I've had one of my Le Creusets for over 10 years (that calculates to 91 more years on the 101 years warranty!) with no sign of any obvious wear mainly because I have taken care when using it: wooden instead of metal spoons or...
I thought I wanted All-Clad
Let me just say this: I thought my dream kitchen set was a basic 10-piece set from All-Clad, and one Le Creuset dutch oven.

After 10 years of wanting my dream collection, I finally decided to plunk down for the Le Creuset portion of it. (If you can buy at an outlet store, all the better. I paid $125 for this 7.25 qt. in French Blue).

So as I approach the register to pay for my purchase, I tell the ladies at the Le Creuset store about my dream collection ... and they just looked at me like I was a moron.

Them: "Why would you need All-Clad?"
Me: "Because everyone needs a stainless steel frypan, right?"
Them: "I only cook in LeCreuset! I even bake my cakes in it!"
Me: "What? Bake a cake in a roasting pan?"
Them: "Why not? They cook beautifully!"

So began my adventure. In a crazy, impusive moment, I got a small roasting pan ($90), a enamal coated stainless steel stock pot ($50), 2 small sauce pans (1 qt, 2...
The Best Dutch Oven You'll Ever Use
I bought my Red, 7-1/4-quart round Dutch/French oven in the early 1990s, cooked hundreds of meals in it and it still looks as good as the day I got it. Back then I lived in an apartment and didn't have much storage space, so I was looking for something versatile. Best kitchen utensil pick I've ever made. And it takes up no storage space at all because it's never put away; it looks beautiful sitting on top of the range even when the kitchen is cleaned up and it's not in use.

I've used it for braising, deep frying, poaching, oven roasting and making stews, soups and sauces. I've used it to cook beef roasts, just about every cut of pork available, whole and cut-up chickens, ducks and rabbit. It works equally well on top of the range or in the oven. It's perfect for pot roasts with the veggies cooked alongside the meat. You can render beef fat in it and make perfect oven-browned potatoes, starting on a range burner and finishing in the oven without having to use another...

Berndes SignoCast Classic 7-Quart oven

I Wouldn't Be Without One
I have had my Berndes Dutch Oven since 1995 and I wouldn't know what to do without it. I use it for everything, from making Spaghetti Sauce to home-made jam. Never have I burned any types of sauce and cleanup is a cinch. You can't forget that they honor their Lifetime warranty. All you do is send the pot back with a $10 shipping and handling fee and a new one is in the mail.
Exploding lid!
My parents got one as a Christmas present, and the first time they used it, the lid shattered in the oven afer 20 minutes. Our UK supplier, ICTC, say that Berndes don't insure the lids, only the pan. They also say it would ONLY explode if the screw in the top was overtightened, and went on to imply that this could only have happened after it left the factory. No consideration that it might have been faulty, and basically implying "they're fine, you must have broken it". Poor customer service on a potentially dangerous product.

Scanpan CTX 7-1/2-Quart Covered Dutch Oven

Great pot, bad lid, great Amazon customer service
5 Stars for Amazon customer services, 2 stars for the lid, and 4 stars for the pot itself. Here is why.
I have exchanged this pot 3 times, each time there were heavy scratches all over the lid even they were all brand new.
I exchanged again and again, and finally got tired of it, so I contacted amazon customer service hoping they can could do something about the rest of the pots in their warehouse. Sure they did, they filed the report, and had someone helped me check the lid before shipping it out to me. The last one I received still has some minor scratch on the lid, but it was a lot better than the first few. The pot itself however is excellent, it's easy to clean, non-stick, dishwasher safe, holds temperature well, I couldn't be happier.
Incredible Pot for Induction Cooking
We had a hard time finding pots that work well with induction cooking. (Try rice in a stainless steel pot - not good.) This pot was pricey, but it turned out to be absolutely perfect. We can cook rice, anything and it comes out flawlessly.

The non-stick is NON-TOXIC and makes cleanup a super breeze.

You can also use metal tools, but we don't. The construction was meant to last generations, and the non-stick is super welded so that it will probably last forever, too.

The only minor little thing is that the handles are a tad bit bulky and large, like a pair of big ears. But, they seem to remain cool, so perhaps that's why they're large. But the pot is fairly lightweight, easy to handle.

We tried the same size with the long handle but traded it in for this model. We now have the Scanpan frying pan and this pot - that's all we need besides our outdoor MSR stainless campware that we also totally love.

Wish we had these Scanpans from...
SCANPAN...The best cookware!
I've tried one scanpan and now have 6 pieces. Simply THE BEST! Cooks very well, easy to use, and cleans well. The best nonstick coating I've ever tried. It browns and sears as well as nonstick. I highly recommend.

Le Creuset Signature Enameled Cast-Iron 7-1/4-Quart Round French Oven, Cherry

Bigger handles, better grip, most useful size for soup and roasts
My original Le Creuset has the smaller handles and though it's the most beloved pot I own, the handles are an issue. I have a bit of arthritis in my thumbs and I found that lifting the pot using even Silicone Mitts was a bit squirmy and I felt a bit unsure, especially when taking a heavy pot out of the oven.

This pot has bigger handles for a better grip but is the same, wonderful enamel-over-cast iron that works so well for cooking soups and roasts. The enamel is inert (like glass) and is non-stick as long as you remember not to scratch it up with abrasive cleaners and scrubbers. If something sticks, you can soak it when it's cooled down, and there is a TRICK for the sad, black patches that happen occasionally to the distracted cook. (No saving the burnt-flavored food, you're on your own if your pot roast "catches" on the bottom. I taste the sauce, and if no burnt flavor permeates, we are good to go.)...
Great addition to a cook's kitchen
This is a great addition to my kitchen. One of the main reasons I purchased this product was to make the artisan bread recipe that is floating out there on the web (although i think it is a Le Creuset recipe). The Dutch oven performed beautifully and I had an amazing loaf of crusty bread when I finished and hardly any clean-up to the oven. I will be baking bread regularly and will certainly use it for stews, soups, etc. Well worth the $!
Cooking with this is HEAVEN!
I purchased the 7 1/4 qt. round french oven in Marseille. The color was even better than any pictures I had seen. The french oven is a dream to cook with. I've used it on top of the stove and in the oven. It's a breeze to clean up which has made me love it even more. I use it so much that I now keep it out on my stove top. It looks as good as it cooks. My only regret? I wish I had invested in this a long time ago.
