Demeyere Proline 5 Star 9.4 Inch Fry Pan

This may just be the best skillet on the planet
A brief history of my cookware journey:

Twenty years ago I bought some Circulon cookware because they claimed to have figured out how to make non-stick surfaces last longer. Maybe, but scrubbing those little grooves left much to be desired. Then I bought some Calphalon because I liked the glass lids. (Hint: you can buy glass lids separately.) Then I took a detour to Sitram Cybernox, a French line of cookware. They claimed performance similar to non-stick from a full stainless pan. Well, it sort of worked, but the conductive disk on the bottom stopped 3/8" from the edge and so did the heat. Finally I bought All-Clad d5. Reviews rated it very highly, and it IS very good cookware. Well, at least until I tried Demeyere.

My first test was to heat 4 cups (2 pounds) of water from 75

Demeyere Atlantis 8.9 Quart Casserole with Lid

Excellent pot of innovative design that works perfectly on my induction cooktop;
I like the uniformly heating base and relatively cool sides of this pot that maximizes energy efficiency. I considered the copper core All-Clad stockpot, but Demeyere custom configures their multi-layer configuration for each pot/pan configuration while All-Clad features the same core design on all their pots, compromising the performance of their saucepans and stock pots.

Demeyere Proline 5-Star 11" Frying Pan

Nice pan
I'm very happy with the pan, heats up evenly. The welded handle (no rivets) is definitely a plus when washing it, I wish all manufacturers would do this... Handle design is also more comfortable than All-clad.
Beautifully crafted, high quality, fry pan
I ended up deciding on Demeyere after reading many reviews and watching a few youtube videos from the manufacture. First impression, I liked that it did not have rivets! Especially with fry pans, rivets can be so difficult to clean as food gets trapped; which also worries me about potential bacteria.
This pan is incredibly heavy, which took some time to get use to but so well made. It takes a while to heat up as others have mentioned. I use the water test to make sure it's at the correct temperature before adding anything, including oil. (Check out the free video on [...]- they have sample videos and one of them is on pan frying.) Once the pan is at the desired temperature, food does not stick and it cleans up beautifully. If it's not at the right temperature, it's a mess to clean. (I've learned the hard way.) You do have to make sure to keep the flame down to medium, even while heating for best results. I treat it much like preheating my oven. Put it on the stove, then start...
Even heating, helper handle excellent pan!
I enjoyed reading some of the other reviews about this pan and have to say most of them are very accurate. The only exception I find is that the pan doesn't seem to be as easy to clean as some would claim. It is a stainless steel pan, so if something gets a little too hot or you don't have enough oil it will stick (eggs come to mind). I now use a carbon steel griddle for eggs which works so much better with less oil. To clean the Demeyere proline, I found that one of the blue scrub sponges is usually sufficient for anything that gets stuck (it is designed to scrub but will not scratch the surface of this pan). In one particularly bad case, some canola oil splatters got very sticky and I couldn't get it off until I used some Dawn Power Dissolver. The pan looked absolutely new again.

Go to Sur La Table to see these pans in person, then buy it for much cheaper here at Amazon. You will see that the handle is the most comfortable of anything out there. The 11-inch has a...

Demeyere Atlantis 7.9 Inch Pasta Insert, 20cm

Just what I wanted.
Demeyere uses heavy guage stainless for all their products. It's not so heavy it's difficult to use, but it definately doesn't feel flimsy. The welded handles are secure and make cleaning much easier.

Demeyere Atlantis 8.5 Quart Deep Stockpot with Lid

Comparison of Demeyere Atlantis vs. Falk Copper (Heat Transfer and Boiling Speed)
You buy copper pans for heat transfer speed and the benefits of its resulting responsiveness to changes in heat. You buy other pans like Demeyere because they are easier to care for.

Ease of care is important to me, but so is performance. I wanted to find out for sure if the heat transfer differences were very substantial, so I bought a Falk 10.5 quart 11" stock pot and a Demeyere Atlantis 8.5 quart 9" stock pot. (Falk is 2.5mm brushed copper coated with a .008" thick stainless (not tin) lining. They are equivalent to high-end Mauviel or Bourgeat in technical respects, except that they have a brushed finish rather than a mirror polish.)

Starting with a room-temperature stove (in both tests) on a 15k BTU gas burner on high-heat, I timed how long it took to bring *equal* amounts of cold water (same temperature) to a rolling boil. Why a mundane test like boiling water? Because it's an ideal test of the pans' ability to transfer heat rapidly and efficiently. A pan...
Fab, fab, fab!!!
I have used this pot a few times and it is fantastic. Heats contents rapidly. Cleans up in the dishwasher. Hope to use for years to come.
satisfied
Bought this and other Demeyere Atlantis products from Amazon.com. Also bought a 13-piece induction stove ready set from costco. Can not really tell the difference. But I am still satisfied because I know I should not expect for better ones now.

If you ar the type who can not sleep just because there are 'better' things ahead, you may not regret for buying this :-)

Demeyere Atlantis 3.5 Quart Conic Sauteuse Pan with Stainless Steel Lid

My second-favorite kitchen pan
This is my second favorite pan -- after the Demeyere proline 12.6" frying pan.

It's perfect for boiling small quantities of water (which, admittedly, is my main use), but can step up to the most challenging sauces, soups, and other tasks -- just like an SUV which is great for driving to the grocery store but can win the Paris-Dakar rally too. Just having a pan like this does motivate you to try more ambitious preparations.

It's heavy, certainly -- stainless steel over copper, but the handle stays cool (cast stainless steel). One of the major features of this pan over other high-end multiclad pans is that the handle is welded, so there are no rivets on the inside to get gunked up with food.

I admit this pan is overkill for most uses, but if you can afford it, this is the best choice for this type of pan.
Disappointed with the inside surface finishing
This is my third piece of Demeyere cookware, so I expected top quality. Unfortunately, I am disappointed with the surface finishing of the interior sides. Though not a major defect, I consider this pan a "2nd" or irregular.

There are very slightly rough concentric rings going around the interior, beginning where the curved sides start, but mostly near the top on the side opposite the handle. If I take my fingernail and rub along the side from top to bottom, I can feel the rings. It is not perfectly smooth like the bottom. Very small, blunt burrs of metal stick out here and there. Perhaps the tool dye used to press the pan shape needed cleaning or replacing before this piece was made, or the operator did not thoroughly polish the pan after it was pressed?

Demeyere's 30-year warranty does not seem to cover this defect. The warranty states: "Scratches to the inside or outside of the stainless steel are not considered production errors."

Oh well,...

Demeyere Atlantis 5.1 Quart Dutch Oven with Lid

Fantastic cookware,
This Dutch oven is a heavy weight, 7 ply vessel, with a 18/10 steel interior, silvinox finish and brushed steel exterior, much like the aluminium kadhais that my mother gave to me 15 years ago. It is simple in its design with no rivets inside the vessel, the handles have been welded solid. The lid sits well trapping heat inside and helps cook with little to no oil and water. Use it in the oven or on Induction top, no problem. No, the handles don't remain cool if you are cooking liquids. Cooking in it is still a delight, because it cooks and cleans up so well. Honestly, I don't miss the kadhais anymore. I had been looking for something similar to All-clad to replace the toxic aluminium and I read a lot of positive reviews about demeyere and all-clad but this came to me with an Amazon gift card that paid 50% off which I could not pass compared to an exorbitant All-clad deal. My choice between All-clad and Demeyere was also based on the fact that Demeyere is made by a family owned...
That's good item for cooking any type of food. I'm going to buy Demeyere's other size pot.
I recommend you buy this item. If you want a good pot can served as pot and pan.
It presented a good look and really cook food fast and good tasty.
Finest Dutch Oven Made
I own a few pieces of Demeyere cookware including this Atlantis Dutch Oven, the Proline 12.6" fry pan, and the Maxigrill. I wished I owned more of it as Demeyere cookware simply the best cookware available - bar none. Life would be a lot more pleasant if one could go through it with a complete set of Demeyere cookware.

Demeyere Atlantis 1.6 Quart Saucepan with Lid

Great saucepan
I just love this saucepan. It is everything a saucepan could be: heats evenly; cleans up easily in the dishwasher; does not have any rivets etc. on the inside to trap food; has smooth finish to release food; and looks really good. This pan will heat the most delicate soup or sauce without any hot spots. It has a good feel with some weight to give that nice even heat. I don't find it heavy; it just has the feel of a very well made item. I have a Cuisinart pan I bought a year or two ago to do the same job and it drove me crazy--always forming hot spots and I had to keep it on almost the lowest heat and stir almost constantly--so much for Cuisinart's sandwich construction. This Demeyer saucepan is the real deal.

I bought it from "We Too Discount Biz" at a substantial savings over the Amazon price and it arrived very quickly and in perfect condition.
Perfect Pan to Cook for Two!
We use this daily to cook steel cut oats and it works great for rice or quinoa as well. This line (Demeyere Atlantis) is fabulous; although they are heavy, they cook very evenly and clean up easily. (Use vinegar to soak tough stains or gently scrub with baking soda to remove burn stains).
Good pan, high price.
I've had a tough time getting hold of these things. Buying it has not been a good experience. Expect to pay the full price, not what Amazon lists. I must have missed the fine print somewhere.
The pot works great but is a bit hard to keep clean. It heats up quickly and stays hot long after you turn off the heat. The handle stays reasonably cool as advertised.

Demeyere Atlantis 2.6-Quart Sauté Pan with Lid

Demeyere, when you want a product that exceeds the marketing hype.
I have used Demeyere cookware for over 35 years, and it is one of the few products still available that has not been cheapened, outsourced to China, and otherwise ruined. It is simply the best. Please think carefully when buying your induction cookware. If you REALLY want 30 year cookware, Demeyere is your only choice.
Tau_Seti
Demeyere is probably the finest cookware available at any price and I have tried most manufacturers products at one time or another.

wow...form and function
Full bottom disk makes all the difference. All other brands use a disk but the sides are still exposed. These are perfect for a gas flame.

Another excellent pan
This is the third pan I have in this line. Very responsive - ready to go to the races. First thing cooked in it came out great. Added the oil to the pan when it was cold. Cleanup was easy.
professional grade
worth the price-- it is very heavy, but you can tell it will last a lifetime. nice storage cloth to store as well.

Demeyere Atlantis 3.2-Quart Covered Saucepan, Silver

an accidental surprise
I am not crazy about sandwich disk bottom pots & pans. I prefer multi-clad or tri-ply type of cookware. I needed a sauce pan but I have difficulty to find my favorite Spring Switzerland Brigade cookware in U.S. I found the Demeyere 3.2 qt pan has deep discount on Amazon, so I give the Demeyere a try.

Here are my non scientific comparisons: disk bottom vs. multi clad,
Demeyere3.2qt / 20cm vs. Spring Switzerland 4qt /20cm and All Clad 1qt/ 15cm

Boiling speed: Surprise! Demeyere is about 30 seconds faster.(did not test All Clad)
Heat retaining: All are great. Spring & All Clad retain longer.
Interior: Spring polish better and feel smoother. I can feel and see the circle lines inside the demeyere.
Exterior: All clad is shiny. Demeyere is matt finish.
Lid: All Clad's lid is not good.
Fry egg: All are great and non stick.
Simmer: Still learning how to control the heat on demeyere because it is new to me and the bottom.
Design:...
Wouldn't want any other saucepan
I've been using Demeyere cookware for a couple of years now, including this saucepan.

This particular saucepan is very solid and heavy in the bottom, built just like the Atlantis saute pans are - the bottom consists of a thick layering of metals and the sides are thinner stainless steel. It does what a straight saucepan is supposed to do - heats quickly and evenly from the bottom, stays hot, and cleans up just fine. The Atlantis handles are comfortable and stay cool. The lid fits tightly and is also of very good quality.

Because this saucepan is 3.2 quarts and has such a thick bottom, it can be a bit difficult to pour using one hand. (although it does have a nice flat 90 degree edge ideal for pouring) For this reason, I kind of wish it had a small helper handle on the back side for pouring and washing. However, I still think it's a fantastic pan and I would never change it for another. I plan to pick up a slightly smaller size at some point.

I also...
Perfect Pan...Almost
This pan is heavy. Very heavy. Heavy enough that a helper handle would be...err...helpful. That being said, I'm giving it five stars anyway. I love this pan. Everything in the Atlantis line is beautiful and this pan is no exception.

Demeyere Atlantis 1.1 Quart Saucepan with Lid

The best there is
You don't buy Demeyere because you can't cook well with something cheaper.

You buy Demeyere because: 1) you can afford it and; 2) it is simply the best there is.

It just makes cooking more enjoyable.
A perfect little pan, updated
Bought this one "used" from Creations by Christi. It was brand new, still had the stickers on it and I saved $70.00. Still expensive, but it is a beauty and works a treat on the induction side of my Viking cooktop. A perfect little pot, cooking meals for two. Highly recommended! Like the other Demeyere Atlantis line, a work of art as well as a great pot. I can see my grandaughter handing these pots down to her kids, just like my Grandma's old cast iron "chicken fryer" came to me (and I have passed it to my daughter after using it for 30 years).
Update: This little pan continues to amaze me. It is just the "right" size for two and I use it for everything (it seems). One of the best purchases I have made. This pan is used virtually everyday for heating soup, steaming rice, cooking veggies, or boiling eggs. Just a perfect size!
Tennis Mom
I believe that Demeyere is the best cookware available. It is beautiful and durable, but most importantly it is versatile. I prefer the looks of the Atlantis line to the Apollo line that is a bit more reasonably priced, but they are both very nice. I purchased two pans from Creations by Christy because they were the most reasonably priced vendor. Both products were shipped without the original Demeyere packaging, but included the literature and original tags. I can live without the packaging for a $60.00 savings. All Demeyere products come with a 30 year warranty. Demeyere cookware works on all types of cooktops including induction. Demeyere was the original company to successfully invent a product to work with induction, so why not go with the experts?

ControlIinduct Non-Stick Skillet Size: 9.4-in.

Extraordinary pan, one of a kind for an induction cooktop.
Along with everyone else, we love the non-stick features of a coated pan, but not the flaking and loss of non-stick surface that often occurs. (Many argue that it's foolish to buy a quality non-stick pan because the non-stick surface fails long before the rest of the pan wears out.) In our experience, surface damage occurs for only two reasons: (1) using a sharp utensil to stir (easily avoided), and (2) overheating the surface (which seems to happen to everyone from time to time).

If you use an induction cooktop, this pan makes a unique contribution. The magnetic layer, which does the induction heating, loses it's magnetism at higher temperatures, the pan stops heating, and doesn't get any hotter. With an induction stove, you can't heat the pan hot enough to damage the cooking surface. Our pan is now nearly 3 1/2 years old, has been used almost daily, and appears brand new. Food doesn't stick (typical Demeyere quality). But more importantly, despite several inadvertent...

Demeyere Atlantis 3.2 Quart Stackable Steamer with Rubber Seal

Demeyere is the only choice for serious induction cooks
The only other cookware that I use on my induction cooktop is 1880's period Erie PA cast iron, but Demeyere is even superior to that fine old cast iron. Demeyere makes dealing with my "piece of junk" KitchenAid induction cooktop tolerable. Once Wolf creates the "zone-free" induction cooktop for the American market, I will roof test my KitchenAid induction cooktop and post the event on YouTube.
Superb steamer
Great quality; using two of these quite regularly (stacked) w/ the stock pot to steam meals. Cleans very easily; cooks very evenly.

Demeyere Atlantis 5.3 Quart Deep Stockpot with Lid

Just what I wanted.
This pot is made with heavy guage stainless. The welded handles are secure. Heats evenly and quickly; cooks at low temps with minimal water, just as the instruction booklet said. It's as pretty as it is functional.

Perfect Stock Pot and Steamer set!
We use this pot regularly to bake beans, as well as to steam meals using the stackable steamer insert (two of them) that can be purchases separately. This line of cookware is the very best I've ever used. It cooks evenly and easily cleans up. It is heavy, yet that's the only downside for all that functionality!
