BergHOFF Earthchef Acadian 12-Piece Cookware Set

Not up to expectations.
First of all, let me say the set is beautiful to look at. They are all shiny, even on the inside. However, that's where the story ends for me in positive light.

In this day and age where almost everything sold is made in China, we take special effort to find items that touch our food that is not made there. With this in mind, I first wrote to Berghoff USA asking where they were made. The response I got is that they are imported from Belgium, but specifically where they were made was smoothly avoided answering.

Anyways, wanted to give it a try and ordered. No where on the box nor the cookware does it state where they are made (very strange, indeed), which made me suspicious. Alright, then we noticed small imperfections and scratches. Alright, since it was a hassle to unpack we wanted all the reasons to keep this and decided to try it. After just one use, we noticed the floor of the pot was blackened in several spots, like pits. The chrome was taken off after one...
Very heavy and well-made beautiful cookware set
I currently have Cuisinart stainless steel set as well as other pieces of cookware and when I saw this BergHOFF Earthchef Acadian 12-Piece Cookware Set on lightening deal, I decided now is the time to upgrade. There was one other review when I purchased this set rating it 3 stars because it is suspected this set is made in China and I do not know about that.

When the box arrived I was surprised at how heavy this cookware set is. For the amount of money I paid, I was expecting a lighter-weight set as the heaviness usually is roughly equivalent to price and this is a very heavy set. The bottoms are very thick and that is where most of the weight is I think. The set looks very well made and well packaged and very shiny. On my cuisinart set, the bottoms are slightly angled in whereas on this set of BerHOFF Earthchef Acadian, the bottoms continue to same line making a very sharp clean attractive edge...
BergHoff Acadian 12piece cookware set
I received the set in excellent condition. They look very good hanging on my pot rack that I built from an antique cast iron floor register grille, shabby sheik. The only thing that I noticed that might be a concern for some, is that the outer edge of the pan lids is very thin, and if you drop a lid, it can and does bend the edge, a rolled edge would help, but would then make the set more expensive. I was able to straighten the edge out. If like me, you hang your pans up, you still need a place close by to store you lids. They are made in such a way that a crafty person can make a lid rack that holds them vertically from small to large. I made mine from old steel and then after welding together and dressing of the welds, I sprayed it with clear satin lacquer, once again very shabby sheik. My wife loves them, and that was a hard sell because as she said " we don't need pots and pans, we have a set of circulon pans that u had to by" . That was ten years ago and the coatings was almost...

Berghoff Twist 6-Piece Knife Block Set

Quality design, quality product
I like these knives. The set is as complete as it needs to be in a home kitchen.

They are well balanced, their handle allow a good grip, they are easy to keep clean.

They are made of a very hard steel which demands a high quality steel to keep them sharp.

No regrets!
Lightweight, German Quality, Superb Cutting
These were on sale on Amazon for only thirty seven dollars when I bought them, so an amazing, amazing deal....even at the seventy or so dollars it usually sells, these are worth it. Once through the machine so far and no rust but I took them right out when it stopped and dried with paper towel then let dry on rack outside machine.
very sharp, won't rust
very good for the price, feels very sturdy and has a great weight to it. no rusting! and works in the dish washer!

BergHOFF Earthchef Premium Copper Clad 10-Piece Cookware Set

Another Disappointment
This cookware was stated to be great for glass top stoves and " would never warp " ...unfortunately mine came slightly warped right out of the box. I called customer service and they were polite, and when asked if they were supposed to be perfectly flat he said yes and to return them if they werent. I opted for a refund and not a replacement. The sides of the stock pot are very thin as well as the other pans walls. They did boil water fairly quickly. Also, one reason I chose this set is because BergHoff is a Belgium company and I was under the impression that these were made in Belgium. When asked, the customer service representative could only say that they had plants all over the world and had no way of knowing where they were made. I'm trying not to buy stuff made in China and he said that it was possible they could have been made there. There was no indication where they were made either on the pans themselves or the box. The bottom of the pan did say BergHoff Belgium, but not...
Versatile and durable pan set
Okay so a little background on me... I learned to cook in a steakhouse kitchen and I am accustomed to putting my cookware through absolute hell in order to get food turned out quickly. I've been extremely disappointed in a number of prominent brands because of their ability to stand up to high-heat, multi-condition cooking. I spend at least 20 hours a week in the kitchen at my house so I can be somewhat picky about my cookware.

I received this pan set as part of the Amazon Vine program and after seeing some of the initial reviews, I was ready to be disappointed. I can tell you after almost a month of using this set in every condition I could think of, this is a 5-star product. I have broiled with it, sautéed, cooked down tomato stock, deep fried, pan fried, and straight up baked with it. I've been nothing but thoroughly impressed. This is not "non-stick" cookware but I have yet to burn anything to it. Clean up has been amazing and as long as you follow the...
Tools make all the difference
Once upon a time, I was a very serious cook. There was nothing I wouldn't tackle in my home kitchen. Over the years, my cooking has become more utilitarian, with only occasional flights of creative fantasy. And with limited disposable income, I have to admit that I never have the best culinary tools on hand. I recently upgraded my pots and pans to the BergHOFF Earthchef Premium Copper Clad 10-Piece Cookware Set, and I have to tell you, it's been a real eye-opener!

Here is what I mean by that: just by having better cooking implements, I get a noticeably improved end product. This is especially evident with, for instance, the sauté pans. These pans conduct heat better and more evenly than my old, cheap pans. Fish fillets and potstickers come out with a pleasing crispness that had been lacking or difficult to achieve in the past, and more evenly browned. This sort of difference is more difficult to quantify with a pasta pot, but who's to say the water isn't...

It's the perfect size, the Berghoff Geminis 33-Piece BBQ Set, it's the perfect size to carry around, but it is also just big enough to really be impressive to all the guys. Like I said, it's perfect.

BergHOFF Mandoline Slicer

Worked out great for mother's day
I bought this for my wife as a mother's day gift. I chose it because it was moderately priced and stainless steel.

So far we have sliced potatoes and onions. It works nicely with the standard flat blade making cuts from very, very thin to pretty thick. We haven't tried the other blades yet, but it seems to work very well as a basic slicer.

One nice thing is that the blades come packed in a plastic case that keeps the organized and safe. You do need to hold onto the handle when slicing or the legs will fold under on you. It has a nice tubular stainless handle for this. The whole thing goes through the dishwasher easily. We have not viewed the DVD, but this is pretty simple to figure out.

I'd call it a decent value and a useful tool.
Mandoline slicer
We have had it for a year now and my wife loves it. She has used it to slice cucumbers for pickle slices which is great as this way they are all uniform in thickness. Tho you can't use the handle that would normally be uses as they are too tall and too long to fit horizontally.
For potatoes the handle/guide works well but you can not get the very last of the potato sliced but this is normal due to the function of the handle waste is minimal.

The blades are sharp and have stayed that way so far its great for making French fries with the vertical blade used in combination with the slicer blade. It's really a time saver and all of your cuts are uniform. The blades are removable and makes the unit and blades easy to clean.
The unit seems sturdy and we have had no issues with it.

It seems to be worth the money can't really find any major issues that would warrant a bad review. We had ours for a year now and its still working fine no broken parts.
Works Great!
The BergHoff mandoline works really well. The stand is sturdy, and the blades are all razor sharp. I love that the slicer comes with a guard, although I have not been using it - as a result accidentally sliced the tip of the nail on my thumb when the vegetable I was slicing got close to the blade!

One thing I will point out is that the straight blade does need to be in place when using the blades with teeth. The thickness of the cuts can easily be adjusted using the two knobs on both sides of the slicer. And the stainless steel makes cleanup a breeze and keeps it nice and shiny! I would highly recommend this product.

Berghoff 8-Piece Gourmet Knife Block

Well-made and Nicely Balanced Cutlery
Let me preface my review by saying that I received this set of cutlery in exchange for reviewing the product. There is no requirement that I give a good review. Also, let me point out that the actual set of knives I received has a different product number than the one on this page and is more probably the set listed here: BergHOFF Forged 8-Piece Knife Block Set. Nevertheless, I imagine that the two sets are very similar.

The BergHOFF Forged 8-Piece Knife Block Set is great. If you're anything like me, cutlery isn't something you give a lot of thought to. My own long-time knife block set was purchased at Walmart or somewhere similar years ago and probably cost less than $100. And these knives have served me just fine for the limited use I give them. If you want a more study and long-lasting set, however, you may want to take a look at these BergHOFF knives.

The set includes six knives, a pair...
Solid knife set for basic kitchen/cooking tasks
The short review:

Solid knife set for basic kitchen/cooking tasks.

The longer review:

- Solid construction on these knives. They feel very sturdy.
- The grips are great, and the knife is comfortable in your hand.
- Good looking block. It's not the one in the photo however, it's an angled wooden block - not a black cylinder.
- No steak knifes, and no room in the block for additional knives beyond what comes with the set. It's kind of a bummer to have a block in my kitchen without the space for some steak knives.
- Scissors included. Every since my first knife set that included scissors, I've used them in the kitchen a lot more than I thought I would.

I will update this review in the future with information about how the knife set holds up over time.
Good Knives
These are good basic knives for most cooking functions.

Pros:

Full tang and solid construction. The handles and rivets are so well fitted that it's as though they just painted them on.

They came sharp enough to be used immediately.

The handles are quite comfortable.

The block is attractive.

The knives serve their function. Very good bread knife serration, for example. The cute paring knife is very easy to use. The chef's knife is excellent.

Cons:

A bit thin? They feel sturdy anyhow.

I can just tell the steel will tarnish if I let it. I'm probably not going to put these in the dishwashing machine. Albeit they come with a 30 year warranty so perhaps this impression is unfair (I certainly am not an expert on knives).

If the knives wear out, I will return to report that in the review, but I anticipate I'll get reliable use out of them for a long time.

BergHOFF Earthchef Professional Copper Clad 10-Piece Cookware set

Great Copper Clad Cookware Set!
After an exhaustive search for the best cookware set for my money, I came across this set by BergHOFF. My mother bought a stainless copper clad set while IN Belgium 25 years ago and I must say this is the closest thing to it...exceeds All-Clad, etc. I've used most of the pieces this weekend and what a joy it is to have cookware that heats evenly AND fast. Nothing sticks and cleanup is easy. (Be warned that all stainless saute pans will blue a bit at high heat, it's what they're for. This is easily remedied with a quick swipe of stainless cleaner.) I'm glad I did my homework and stayed patient for once. Mom would be proud of me. BergHOFF Earthchef Professional Copper Clad 10-Piece Cookware set
Great, great, great
These pots and pans are the best I have owned. I have had just about every top brand you can think of over the years and these are top of the line.
I was very disappointed when I returned to Amazon to purchase some extra pieces and found they were not available. As a result I kept a few of my old pans around to fill in. I really would love to have a large skillet, and a large deep fry pan. I have done quite a bit of research so far with no luck. If anyone has any info on where to obtain them, please tell Amazon as I will be the first to buy them. I would give these 10 stars if there was such an option
BergHOFF Professional Copper Clad
Exactly what I wanted and at the price I wanted to pay when comparing to the higher end products currently out there. Same quality and cooking experience you would find in the over priced cookware, and not that I could find "Made in China".

I am glad I waited and researched before buying the last cookware I will ever use.

Quality product at an affordable price, what more could one ask for.

BergHOFF Boreal 8 Piece Stainless Steel Cookware Set

Simply Awesome...
BergHOFF!! Simply amazing. Had to replace an old corroded set from 1977. Needed a few KEY pans. I found that I only really use 2-3 key pans ALL of THE TIME. A stock pot, a skillet and a sauce pan. I have other pots to supplement...BUT this is a GOOD....BASIC set...NOT the CHEAPEST...BUT has better features.....

Here is why:

Stainless Steel..................check
Riveted handles..................check (welded handles will melt right off at higher temperatures/on a gas range..need RIVETs)
Oven safe to 450.................check
Glass tops.......................check (easier to see what you are cooking)
Steam hole in glass top..........check (prevents steam build up inside lid, can still see, plus this prevent the lids from over heating which cause it to make popping/hissing sounds
Dishwasher safe..................check

It took me several days of intense research to decide on this set. Modest in size..BUT ..BIG on features. I...

BergHOFF Earthchef Acadian 10-Piece Cookware Set

DO NOT BUY - Poor customer service
Poor product - Poor customer service - Would not buy again for half the price

Warning: First time reviewer here, but I use the reviews of products exclusively on whether or not to purchase products on amazon.com. I do not want any other users to go through the same poor customer service I did only to gain nothing.

I have purchased a set of Berghoff Scala Ceramic coated frying pans. I used the main 12" pan for about a month. As time progresses the pan started to stick. I contacted the customer service dept. that told me to deep clean the pan with baking soda and water. After it was dry add oil to the pan while slowly reheating it. I did this several times to cure my pan as suggested by the customer service rep. He assured me that it would take some time for this to work. This took place over 4 months after purchasing the set. I then got preoccupied when moving into my renovated kitchen. After dealing with my renovation I found the pan again. It was now 12 months...
Best cookware set I ever owned!
Pros: non- toxic ceramic coating for healthy cooking. A true non-stick surface: the food does not burn, but cooks rather evenly. Cleaning also is a breeze, no scrubbing required!
Cons: Not dishwasher safe! However as I mentioned before the food does not stick to the surfaces and comes off easily .
Excellent quality for the money, I highly recommend it!
After a few uses, NOT non-stick
I enthusiastically bought this set of BergHOFF EarthChef pans that did not use the usual non-stick chemicals.
After three or four uses, the pans were no longer non-stick. I called BergHOFF and went through
reconditioning the pans, sending in photos, etc. to find that the company does not back its product
and would not honor the one year guarantee - good luck frying with these pans if you cannot turn the
flame beyond simmer. I love the idea of a healthy non-stick pan, but this is not it.

Absolutely the best cookware I have ever used...
not unreasonably priced considering the lifetime warranty...
& NO TEFLON

BergHOFF Earthchef Acadian Covered 14-Inch Wok

stick after 2 weeks !
I decided to choose this wok is because it claimed non-stick, no teflon, and very high temperature coating. However, I was very disappointed because it began stick after 2 weeks. I am not sure if it happend only to my wok or because of my usage, which I double about because it claimed can be heated up to 1000 degree F and I only used the warm water to clean it. It apparently over-priced and I will not recommend my friends to purchase this product.
It's a very bad non-stick wok
I was doing some research, going through reviews, and trying to find a safe, environmentally friendly non-stick product, so I found this one - the reviews it has was very few and limited, but seems not too bad. So I decided to try out.

First of all, when I received the product, it says it is originated from Belgium, but then it is made in China!

Second of all, when I was trying out to make stumble eggs, it sticks all over, even in the first use. I previously owned a Scanpan wok for about 1 year - it was good for about 1 year, and until the very end, it started to stick when making fried rice, but then looking back, it was still performing better than this brand new Earthchef wok.

The only concerns about the Scanpan is that it still contains PFOA, that's why I am looking for the other options.

Big regret getting this one, for sure.
Can't live without it!
We bought this pan and we now use it to stir-fry everything and steam all our veggies. It cleans easily, nothing seems to stick to the pan. It is called a wok but it cooks just about everything....even rice. It has a metal plate on the bottom that makes it cook fast and evenly. Rubber handles can easily be removed to it can go in the oven. Our pan stays on the stovetop ready for the next meal.
