Zojirushi NP-HBC18 10-Cup (Uncooked) Rice Cooker and Warmer with Induction Heating System, Stainless Steel

Rice wasn't rice before the Zojirushi came into my kitchen!
We thought we knew what rice was supposed to be like when we used our Costco Aroma Rice Cookers--we would just, as a matter of course, replace the old ones with the same brand... Until this time.
After reading up on consumer reviews and Japanese sites, we opted to try the Zojirushi Induction Heating Rice Cooker. The stainless steel is STUNNING--the pictures do NOT do it justice--it is gorgeous on my countertop--a piece of furniture, like the KitchenAid Mixer. It is easy to set up (clock time, etc) and easy to use. (The directions are very clear.) I tried some Jasmine Rice in it for our first try--and WOW! I was totally amazed! Each piece of rice is perfect in every way. I have never had such results before. Perfect temperature, perfect texture, perfect stickiness, perfect taste. The aroma in the kitchen fills the house and it's wonderful.
There is very little steam (unlike most rice cookers) and it is very easy to clean up. It keeps the rice at that perfect...
Love it! Love it! Love it!
I purchased this rice cooker about a month or so ago. I cannot say enough good things about this rice cooker. It is absolutely fantastic! Everything I've made (rice and non-rice) has come out wonderfully!

I have a cook/warm rice cooker that I'm going to sell at a yard sale. I will never be able to go back to using that type of machine again. The difference between the Zojirushi and the cook/warm is more than night and day. The difference between the quality in the rice bowls alone is unbelievable. The Zojirushi has a bowl that is very thick and heavy, not unlike my stove top cookware. My old cook/warm rice bowl feels like one of my cheap mixing bowls.

Prior to purchasing the Zojirushi, we never really cared for brown rice. It was too crunchy/chewy. Now my family and I love brown rice. The GABA Brown Rice setting is amazing. I have never made, nor eaten, brown rice that was so light and fluffy before in my life. Because of that, we mostly eat brown...
The best rice cooker out there
Update: We have owned this rice cooker for about 2 years now and it continues to cook good rice every time. Some Tips:
1. Add 10% more water than is indicated, this will make fluffier rice
2. In order to make Persian-style rice, throw in one tablespoon butter and salt to taste with the water: when used with Basmati rice, this would produce fragrant rice with every grain standing apart.
3. For long-grain rice, use the "Soft" option.
4. Please use it to cook brown rice on GABA setting. Exquisite.
-----------------------------------------
We have had this rice cooker for a week now and have already tried all its settings. It's unbelievable how this cooker makes fluffy, moist rice where each grain stands out without getting sticky. This happens whether you put in Basmati rice, Sushi rice or brown rice. It's astounding how the rice remain fresh, warm and hardly dry out. That was a big change for us, having used no-good Oster rice cookers until we went to a...

Zojirushi NS-TGC10 Micom 5-1/2-Cup Rice Cooker and Warmer, Stainless Steel

Perfect Size & Perfect Rice - Glad I Got This Instead of the NS-LAC05
Just got this rice cooker this afternoon & immediately tried it out making one "Zojirushi cup" of sticky short grain white rice I bought at a Japanese grocery store. I just finished gobbling it up with a little soy sauce and it was DELICIOUS! The rice came out perfectly - nice and sticky (I can't wait to make some sushi with it!), but not watery at all and cooked perfectly.

I was really torn between this model and Zojirushi's NS-LAC05 3-Cup model. Most of the time, I will be cooking rice for only 2 people, so the 3-Cup NS-LAC05 seemed ideal. But, on the other hand, I liked the flexibility of getting this bigger 5 1/2-Cup model - e.g., when having company over for dinner, or for cooking "one pot" rice-based dishes - I thought I could use the extra room in both cases. And, this bigger model can make cakes, where as the 3-Cup is too small. The only thing that worried me about getting this bigger...
Very Good, but not Perfect
I bought this rice cooker a month ago and we used it almost every day. We used it to cook white rice most of the time. I have tried brown rice once and sponge cake twice.

White Rice: Taste and texture-wise, it's the same as my other rice cookers. But it takes 45min to cook (vs 20min in others). There is a Quick Cook feature, but that is 30min still. There is 1 noticeable difference with the rice, it tastes very good the next day with microwave reheating.

Brown Rice: Texture-wise, there is a huge difference from my other rice cookers. The brown rice is soft and plum, but it takes almost 2hr to cook.

Sponge Cake: The cakes collapsed both times after I opened the lid.

Features I like:
- Retractable power cord
- Non-stick coating bowl
- Music indicator of when it starts and ends
- "Bumpy" spatula and spatula holder on the side

Features I don't like:
- No condensation collector
- Having to clean...
Excellent Rice Cooker: Wish It Played Something Other Than Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star!
Seriously, it plays Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star when you start it. But, we love it!

This is my second Zojirushi rice cooker with fuzzy logic. I received the first one as a gift 10 years ago and it still works fine. We got this one, because we wanted a smaller cooker that didn't take up as much space in our overloaded kitchen. Our old cooker is a 10-cup model and worked flawlessly. The new model is much improved. The retractable cord is an excellent feature and the cooker is easy to program. It is also easy to clean and nonstick. Cooks rice to perfection. Yes, it's expensive, but it does an excellent job and it's built to last. We had originally gotten a cheaper brand ($40) to replace our old Zojirushi. Big mistake. It lasted less than a year. Zojirushi is much higher quality and we look forward to another decade or more of regular use. Highest recommendation!!

Update May 2009: Still using this cooker regularly. Does a great job and is holding up...

Zojirushi 10-c. Stainless Steel Micom Rice Cooker

A little pricey but definitely worth it!
I love this addition to our stainless kitchen appliances. It looks nice and fits right in. The rice comes out PERFECT each time too! It keeps the rice warm for days and even tells you how many hours ago it was cooked. The only thing I wish it would do is cook the rice quicker than 45-60 minutes. My old Zojirushi cooked rice in about 20 minutes.
excellent product
So far i've only used it to cook brown rice but i love the product, expensive but i think it's worth it
Wonderful
My wife wanted a new rice cooker, but also something that could be a steamer as well. This one is fantastic. Easy to use, makes perfect rice and the removable pan makes for easy cleanup. Have used the timer function as well - was spot on. It's a bit more expensive, but worth every penny spent.

Zojirushi SN-XAE60XA Stainless Steel Thermal Vacuum Cooking Pot, 1-1/2-Gallon

Pure awesome
My family has a Tiger brand one for many years now and it still works great. So great we bought a smaller Zojirushi one for myself and my boyfriend and I can't say enough about it. I know its expensive but it is well worth it. DO NOT BUY A CHEAP ONE HOPING IT WILL WORK THE SAME!

It will keep your meat intact to the bone but tender and since its indirect heat you can add things with different cooking time all together in the thermal and it will still be fine. It cooks everything perfectly. No soggy gross vegetables.

I have no idea why this isnt more popular because it saves so much energy which adds up to big $$$$.

I will definitely get a bigger one when my family grows but for just the two of us, this pot is a great size.

LASTLY its super easy to clean. =)
Instantly one of my top 3 appliances
I got this thermal cooker abount a month ago, and I've been using it day and night. I cook a lot of beans and whole grains, and it's perfect for those, but I've also been tremendously pleased with it for Bolognese sauce, Indian curry, chicken soups, beef daube and pot roast, and even steamed puddings like brown bread and carrot cake. It's not just thermal cookers I like, it's this particular one. My first thermal cooker didn't retain heat for nearly as long, and the inner pot was flimsy. In contrast, this is the Cadillac of thermal cookers. The inner pot cooks evenly. The stainless steel throughout always looks nice and cleans easily. Boiling water is still 160 degrees overnight. I find I'm cooking with it just for the fun of it....not even for the next meal. And I can't wait for the next tailgate meal. If you want a superb thermal cooker and you really appreciate high quality, go with this. If these criteria aren't important to you and you just want to cook rice...
Worth Every Penny- After 2 years of use
This is an excellent Item, you just bring your food to a boil on the stove then place it into the outer pot and let it cook. It is wonderful in the summer to make any stews so you do not have to heat your whole house keeping things on the stove. And you will never scortch anything because the temp doesn't increase beyond the boiling point once you remove it from the stove... I will be getting the 2 gallon one because I think that the 1.5 gallon will be a bit small for our family of four when the children get older and eat more. We love love love it!
*******
I have been using my zojiroshi pot now for over 2 years- and its still a wonderful item and I use it at least once a week and definately for anything that requires long simmer times. We're conservative so there's never any need to use that much electricity. I have learned with time that cooking with this pot requires some adjusting. When you cook things on the stove you need to add water because it evaporates. On the...

Zojirushi THA-603S 6-Liter Electric Rice Warmer, Stainless Steel

Reliable commercial rice warmer
Pros : Very reliable, excellent built quality compare to other brand (I've used 'Tiger', 'Zojirushi' and 'Welbon')

Con : none
Great Product
I have the old one for 17 years for my restaurant and it still works good. This one is good so far but it is a little too big for me, i guess i should order a smaller one. Most electronic things won't last long these days, I hope the quality will be as good as the old one i have.

Zojirushi NS-TGC18 10-Cup Micom Rice Cooker and Warmer, Stainless Steel

Took rice from an occasional treat to whenever we want it!
I have had several of the cheaper on/off rice cookers. They worked ok for white rice, but anything else - forget it. Even with white rice, the bottom consistently got crusty and brown. The stay warm features on those types of cookers have a tendency to run too hot, thus scalding the bottom layer.

Now I have a Zojirushi! I rinse some rice in the morning throw it in the Zoji, throw in a little butter and sea salt, set the timer and I am done! Any type of rice! I have cooked Jasmine, Basmati, Brown, Wild, Sticky, and various blends - all of them PERFECT every time.

My mom taught me the secret to better rice is to let it soak (especially sticky) before you cook it. This is made so easy because once you've added the rice and set the timer, it soaks all day.

I love that you set the timer for when you want the rice to BE READY, not when you want it to start cooking. That way, I can time the rice perfectly to coincide with dinner - brilliant!

The...
Rice Lover
Excellent choice! I've purchased several rice cookers in the past. The last one I had was a Tiger Brand which I was very disappointed with. This by far was the best rice cooker I've ever had. We cook rice everyday and although it takes a little longer than the other brands I've used, the rice comes out "PERFECT" each time and does not get spoiled easily. One of the best feature is that you can actually see the measurement inside the pot.The pot in itself is heavy duty.
It's a little pricy but you get what you pay for and this Zojirushi is definitelyworth the money. It also has two different tunes when you initially press the cooking button and after it's done...very cute! We all love it and will definitely recommend to anyone.
You Can Make Perfect Rice and Have it Waiting for You
**UPDATE** I've had this rice cooker and "The Ultimate Rice Cooker Book" for 2 years now and I use my Zojirushi 10-cup Micom Rice Cooker all of the time. It's the best! There is an Arborio Rice Pudding recipe in the book that I am known for in all of my social circles. This rice cooker (and book) were a great investment. I'm so happy and highly recommend it. Go get one!

My husband and I only had rice at restaurants or at dinner parties but very rarely at home. A nurse who ran a weight loss program told me that rice cookers steam rice in a healthier way then when you boil it on the stove top or in the microwave. You could eat healthier and better tasting rice at home with a good rice cooker.

We wanted a Zojirushi for their reputation and a versatile model with more features was ideal. The price difference between a 5 cup and 10 cup rice cooker is less than a $20 so buying the 10-cup is a no-brainer. With a 2-cup minimum it's no problem with their stay...

Induction Heating Pressure Rice Cooker/Warmer Size: 10 Cup

Great Brown Rice at 7,300 ft.
Just completed my first pot of brown rice at 7,300 ft. It is so much better than my usual pressure-cooked brown rice, it is amazing. And I didn't have to stand around adjusting the flame on my stove to keep the pressure up, but not too far up. I simply put in the brown rice to the levels recommended. I closed it and set it on the brown rice setting. Perfect the first time.
Yes, it is really expensive, but brown rice doesn't really get done at my altitude unless you use a pressure cooker. The controls on a pressure cooker are not very fine. This machine immediately brings the rice to the best temperature for cooking whatever kind of rice one chooses and raises the pressure, if necessary, to get the water to that temperature.
I looked at the non-pressurized Zojirushi rice cookers and realized that they would not work for me, so my sweet husband sprang for the NP-HTC18 and gave it to me for a gift. I am very lucky. Great husband, great rice-cooker. He figures he...
Yes it's expensive but worth it.......
I am quite aware as a non-Asian that my review of a rice cooker which is basically no more than a fancy, perhaps overpriced water boiler, might not be taken too seriously. However, I have been cooking Asian/Chinese cuisine for almost 35 years and for some reason have had an identity, if not a passion for the art of properly cooking rice. During this time I have owned 6 electric rice cookers. I began with a National basic rice cooker. You placed the rinsed rice into the aluminum cooking pot, clicked the switch to on and off it went. When the rice had boiled all the liquid away the temp spiked and my rice cooker shut off. The following rice cooker was again a National brand, but this was a much more sophisticated model that touted "Fuzzy Logic". I realize that it is a bit of a stretch to believe a microprocessor could be needed to merely "boil and cook" rice? However, given the assortment of rice dishes and not just cooking plain rice a convenience like this seemed to be a...
The Lexus of Rice Cookers.
First off I know this rice cooker is super expensive. Why the heck does a rice cooker cost this much? But this isn't even the most expensive, there's a rice cooker that's $2000 in Japan, that's the Bently or Rolls Royce of rice cookers. This one is the Lexus of rice cookers.

The main selling point for this one is that it has induction cooking and pressure cooking. I'm assuming that if you are looking at this machine, you are probably Asian and eat rice everyday. Does this machine make the rice so much better that it's worth the price, not really. Not for it to be worth this much but if you like your rice to be perfectly moist, this does a great job. I'm comparing this rice cooker to my old Tiger which is just a standard rice cooker. This one is all computer controlled and you just can't mess up the rice.

The main reason to get this rice cooker over a cheaper brand is that you want to eat brown rice. Now to be perfectly clear the brown rice is a lot softer but it...

Zojirushi BB-CEC20 Home Bakery Supreme 2-Pound-Loaf Breadmaker, Black

As an avid bread baker, this is my top pick for replacing my own loaves better!
I was fortunate to have my parents decide upon a bread maker as a gift to me and allow me to pick the model I wanted...knowing I'd spent the last year actually studying the art of bread making by hand from some pros and cookbooks.

I had my doubts, however, that a machine could replace all I was learning to do...

...it can!

Here are some highlights of why I chose this machine initially then I'll get down to what I know about it now having used it non-stop:

STAINLESS:
I had no intention of pulling a bread machine in and out of the cabinet each week so I knew for sure, if it was going to sit countertop, it needed to be stainless.

LOAF SHAPE:
I knew I wanted the shape of this loaf. Most turn out looking like an odd rocket with the top of the loaf on one of the small sides of the rectangle which screams "odd bread machine loaf" and every slice except the first few is all square edges. This machine actually bakes a loaf that...
amazing bread maker!!!
I am an avid bread maker. this is my third machine. I hated to spend the money -- seems absurd to pay that much -- but it is amazing! No comparison with typical machines. (my last was a cuisinart. was ok, but not like this -- and didn't last long. six months of frequent use and it failed to properly mix. ) this one is easy to use. no need to get the temperature of the ingredients just right. the machines "preheats" to do that for you and get it just perfect. the bread quality is superior. I am absolutely in awe. I bought a bread machine recipe book to go with it and am finding it fun to experiment. I need not worry if it will be a flop! It bakes a beautiful loaf everytime. Treat yourself and your family!!
Not Terrible but Somewhat Dissapointed
My wife and I had had a breadman for almost 20 years. We would make a loaf of bread almost every day with it, and never bought store bread. The only drawback to the breadman is that is made round loaves, and hence sandwiches were odd shaped. Taste, texture, consistency and crust were always perfect.

The breadman died last year. Given how much use we got out of it, we decided to look for the best bread machine. In particular we wanted to step up to something that made a square loaf, so we would haver normally shaped sandwiches. So, we bought the Zojirushi BB-CEC20.

Overall, this machine has not lived up to our expectations. We do get large, fluffy, tasty loaves, BUT we have found that there is no way to get an even crust on the bread. The top is underdone, and the bottom is overdone. It does not have even enough heating in the cooking chamber. The heating elements are in the bottom, and the heat does not effectively get up around the top of the bread. The best...
