Great BIG microwave, not for the simple-minded
I bought this microwave to replace a Panasonic that died after about 8 years.

TECHNICAL DETAILS:
The "TrueCook Plus" gimmick seems a little silly, but I've never used it. There's a website with a list of the foods that use TCP, but in the grocery store I never see the TCP symbol. If you cook all your meals from frozen dinners in the microwave, this might have some value, but as of April 2011 there just aren't that many foods using TCP.

It has way too many buttons: The Quick Touch sensor, alone, has separate buttons for cooking: potato, rice, popcorn, fresh vegetable, frozen vegetable, and frozen entree, as well as a quick touch "reheat" button which can reheat either 1) a dinner plate, 2) soup/sauce, or 3) casserole. (WHERE'S THE REHEAT BUTTON FOR PIZZA????) The key is, you don't have to enter a time or power, the microwave figures it out based on the sensor. I always have to refer to the manual to do it, but so far it has worked very well for cooking...
Two defective units
I REALLY hate reviews that slam a product because the consumer happened to get a defective unit. Nothing is perfect, especially mass produced appliances. Now, having said that, I'm going to give this microwave 1 star.

I bought this microwave at a local big box store, and it was defective. There was a loud buzzing noise, and it looked as though one of the screws on the back of the microwave near the vent was sparking. Uh oh! That doesn't sound safe!

We took the microwave back to the big box store, and they didn't have any in stock for an exchange. Well, I really liked the features of this microwave so I was willing to drive to another location to get another one. When I plugged this new unit in, the fan, light and turntable powered up on it's own. I could enter a cooking time, and it would count down, but once it got to zero, the fan and light and turntable stayed on. I didn't test if it was actually microwaving or not. A great performer for the price...with some reservations
After LOTS of research by me, this unit made the short list of three selected on the basis of aethetics by my partner. Online reviews ranked this LG model almost as well as the Sharp R-530ES, but the LG was almost $100 less. The 2 year warranty was ultimately the deal clincher.

Thus far we haven't used every feature, but have used it enough to learn it's 20% more powerful than our (now deceased) KitchenAid microwave, and heats items very evenly. My partner is less than happy about the degree of doneness for autocooking bacon (preferring crispier bacon than I), but I think it's perfect, and much more consistent than our old KitchenAid, which delivered bacon anywhere from barely cooked to almost black.

I really appreciate the curved cavity, as one of the problems we had with our KitchenAid was our maid's tendancy to wipe the corners with a damp rag and then close the door, causing both corners to rust over time. I also appreciate the greater capacity and larger...

Sharp R-426LS Family-Size 1-2/5-Cubic-Foot Countertop Microwave Oven

Great Large Microwave
I owned this microwave for one and a half years. In that time I was most impressed with the sleek finish and large size. It does everything you would expect of a microwave (boil water, popcorn, reheat food, etc). The preset, by weight, settings are a little hit or miss, but all in all pretty good. Generally, I like to manually adjust the power level and this microwave does a great job with that. For instance, melting butter on power level one or two melts the butter without boiling or liquefying it.

My roommate took my first Sharp and I'm about to buy my second. I hope this helps.
Dangerouse!
I raved about this microwave for about 6 months, till the turntable motor broke. It was fixed at a service center at no cost to me as it was still under warranty. The design is really gorgeous, i'll give that to it, the functions are nice, it's easy to use, sensor is great. I would still be loving it if not the accident that happened a week ago - it just started sparkling and burnt the waveguard cover and one side. It didn't damage the food, just burnt itself. I was lucky enough to be next to it and turn it off. The warranty expired about 4 months ago, but i contacted Sharp anyway as it's a safety issue. First they sounded worried, but as soon as they realized that nobody was hurt and the house wasn't in fire i got standard response that it's not under warranty, they can't help me and it's my own problem.

I wouldn't dare call them if it was something else - thing happen, appliences brake and if i wasn't smart enough to buy the extended warranty that would my problem and...
my new kitchen
I recently finished my kitchen remodel which included all stainless steel appliances. I bought this model of microwave because of its design. Now that I am using it, I love it. It is easy to use. It took no time for me to adjust to the buttons being on the inside.The size is great and the sensor mode works wonderfully. I would highly reccomend this product.

DCS MO24SS2 2.0 Cu. Ft. Stainless Steel Countertop Microwave

I was looking for the largest microwave with caurosel that fit my space and this one is perfect. Works great! Lots of functional settings. I would have given a 5 star rating except for one thing that bugs me about this unit: the entire square digital display is lite constantly, not just the digital read out but the entire display square is constantly lite.. If it were just the numbers, as in the time when the unit is off, that would be fine, but the display is constantly lite with the numbers even brighter on the display. It seems like they could have put in a more up to date display.
Flawed
This microwave works fine and does whats needed. Two very important head banging problems are; no popcorn setting (it's 2012 for Pete's sake) and you can't use the microwave if your using the kitchen timer, WHA-WHAT! How stupid is that? Just sayin'.......

Haier MWM10100SS 1-Cubic-Foot 1000-Watt Microwave Oven, Stainless

Very Happy with this microwave
Our office's 10 year old microwave oven finally broke down and needed to be replaced in a hurry. After searching on amazon.com and reading descriptions and reviews of dozens of microwaves, I chose this Haier model. It arrived within 2 days, we set it up, and have been using it these past two weeks. It's easy to use without reading the manual, since we mostly do re-heating, cooking packaged frozen meals, heating water for coffee or tea, and defrosting our home cooked meals. Love that it has: a handle - so no stuck latches; a glass door instead of plastic like our previous oven; Clock and panel that we can see from any angle - again, unlike our previous oven. Love that it is a nice clean looking design in the stainless steel. The only complaint I have heard is that some people dislike that it buzzes 5 times to tell you it is done, and people can hear it down the hall in their offices. So you are forewarned if the buzzing would be a problem for you.

Gets you more for your money...
The price tag of $99 might make you think you are getting only a very small microwave, but that's not the case at all. This one is pretty much full size on the inside, with a 12 1/2" turntable (included with microwave), while still looking compact on the outside. Perfect for people with limited counter space. The open / close handle feature is also great. Microwave came packaged very well and secure. No dents or scratches. So far I am very satisfied.

Well I like it. I like the control panel. I can set up lots of auto timing with it, Which means all I have to do is punch one button. It took a little learning form the intruction book, but I got the hang of it.I think it's a great deal for the money.

Sharp AX-1200K SuperSteam Multi-Purpose Oven, Black

nice looking, works well, interface a bit complicated
First off this is a VERY attractive appliance. The picture on the website does not do it justice, as weird as that may seem. It is substancial, well built, and looks and feels like something from a professional kitchen. Even though the measurements are documented, the oven just seems bigger. Personally, I think it's too big for a counter and would be best mounted into a unit. There could be some problems with mounting because you absolutely DO need the recommended space above, behind and to the sides - you can't get away with putting it up against anything if you plan on using the steam feature.

Good things:
The convention over works exactly as it should - I made a cake and it came out super-fluffy and perfectly cooked in and out, and very moist. Also made a sandwich and the bread was nice and crispy and the tomatoes inside were perfectly cooked. I made two chickens - one with the steam and one without. Both were good, but the one with the steam did get brown...
Great oven, love cooking with SuperSteam! ** Updated 10.2013**
I love to cook and I was intrigued by the SuperSteam and its method of cooking. A simple convection microwave combination is nothing new but this is the most advanced cooking apparatus I have ever used. I was hoping that SuperSteam wouldn't be a useless gimmick. It wasn't. The oven itself is boxy and larger than I expected. I can see it would work nicely installed, as it takes up almost all of a 36" countertop and just barely fits under the upper cabinet. It is a good looking machine, solid feeling and even has a sleep mode option for the display, so it won't light up a dark room if that's what you want. Just another nice touch.

I have made several dishes in the less than two weeks I have had this and I am impressed, giving this over 90% satisfactory rating. (That's just a personal measure). Commercial quality at a non-commercial price
I had a friend who had one of these built into her kitchen. My first thoughts were (in my head): rich people, grrr! Restaurants also commonly use these (called combi ovens because they cook in three modes: micro, convection, and steam), although a commercial oven like this would run at least two to three times the price. Now that I've tried it I have to wonder if these shouldn't be standard equipment in new homes along with a glass cook top. Singles, couples, and condo owners might want to consider having one of these installed in their next kitchen along with a glass cook top rather than a full sized oven and microwave.

This uses far less energy that an electric oven. At 700 watts, it even uses less energy than my microwave which was surprising. My microwave, a GE Spacemaker XL 1800 uses 1100 watts and can't cook nearly as many types of food as this oven. Although the price is a more by a few hundred dollars, I think the upgrade to the Sharp Supersteam makes sense because...

Panasonic NN-SD697S, 1.2cuft 1300 Watt Sensor Microwave Oven, Stainless Steel

Panasonic disappointed me with this model
I just bought the Panasonic NNSD697S Stainless Steel 1300 Watt Microwave Oven, for $100 at Costco. I previously owned an 1,100 watt Panasonic microwave oven that lasted me for 8 years of excellent service before it stopped heating and then started smoking one day. So, I was pretty much pre-sold on the Panasonic brand.

However, this model disappoints me. The LED time display is dim and reads "All 8s"; it is hard to see at any angle other than direct-on. The time has to be entered using a pop-out dial, or by the "1 minute" button. You can't use the two methods with each other; either you use the dial or the 1-minute button. The more/less time button only works with pre-programmed cooking functions, either reducing or increasing the pre-determined cook time by 10%.

The dial adds time in increasingly larger increments; the more time that is entered, the more the time changes with each turn of the dial. At larger time amounts, over 5 minutes, you can only change the...
Not bad for the money
I've had this microwave for about 9 months now. It's quite powerful, doesn't take up too much counter space, and has a decent (albeit not great) look to it. [...]I would agree with the other reviewer about some of its design flaws, namely, the light doesn't come on when you open the door (the light is on only when cooking), and the dial method of entering the time is a bit unconventional, but you do get used to it. If you're looking for a powerful microwave but don't want to spend a fortune, this is a good option if you don't mind its few quirks.
Died after 3 months
I had bad experience with this oven. Only after a couple of months of gentle use - it shuts down after 10 seconds of use !!

If you search, you will see many other similar Panasonic models have similar issues:
* The oven will shut down after a few seconds of use
* or the oven will reset
* or the lights on the control panel will behave erratically.

When I called the service number, they asked me to reset the oven by taking off the electric supply for an hour - which helped for a few days but then oven went back to 10 second shut off.

I think there is a software issue with this type of Panasonic models and I will suggest people to stay away from them.

Cuisinart CMW-200 1-1/5-Cubic-Foot Convection Microwave Oven with Grill

Priceless
I live in a small downtown unit in San Francisco, so anything that takes up space has to earn it's living. This unit is now the only "oven" I use, and it's wonderful. I see many complain about how long it takes to "heat up," but that's a misunderstanding of using convection heat. Just put whatever you want to cook in the oven--cakes, breads, lasagna, etc.--and it will cook as the oven heats. Because of the convection, there are no "hot spots" and nothing will burn. The only adjustment is the cooking time, but that can be gauged with a little practice. Easy to clean, makes wonderful toast, pies, fresh breads and roast cuts of meat.... I don't know what I'd do without this. The microwave is very flexible and easy to use with many different choices on the control panel.
Not enough Info
I really looked forward to using this microwave. Unfortunately, it wasn't until I reached page 6 of the instruction booklet that I found I could not use it due to space requirements. The oven needs at least 3 inches free space at sides and back, as well as 12 inches free space above it. These requirements should be listed along with the size of the oven in the technical info to avoid a customer having to send the item back. My hanging wall cupboards were too for me to use the oven, so it had to go back.
Food in the unit before you choose preheat convection
Great idea I went out and got frozen french fries.

Tried no preheat convection and after 15 minutes they weren't done and cooked another 5 minutes.

Another batch I went with preheat and the temp at 425 as suggested and put the fries in the oven at the start of the preheat cycle. By the time it hit 425 the fries were done. I never did set the time. You are not allowed to set the time before the temp preheat is reached. At that rate if they are not quite done then you add more time through what they call kitchen time.

there's heat exhausting out the back that I wish would stay in the oven heating it up faster. However I don't know how convection ovens heat themselves.

Tried the idea of turning on the grill for 2 minutes then going to convection. It did not seem to speed things up any.

Sharp 2.0 cu ft/1200w Microwave in White

Sharp microwave
I like this microwave except for the fact you can't see the number buttons - they are light gray on a white background. All of the other buttons are black. If I had seen this microwave in person I wouldn't have bought it. My previous microwave was a Sharp like this one so I didn't think about the numbers. It didn't look so bad on the computer when I ordered it.
Second one I bought
I really love this microwave. I just replaced my old one (same one, earlier model)because the keypad wasn't working that well and it had a little rust inside. It still worked and I gave it to a friend who also loves it. It's nice and big and easy to clean. I use the sensor reheat function a LOT. It reheats the food without cooking it more and does it quite quickly.
Solid performance
This microwave does everything it is advertised to do. Heats contents quickly, and has the size to handle most cooking needs. Replaced a Panasonic which just stopped working, and after having a Sharp brand in the past and looking at independent reviews of this size oven, decided to go back to it. Price was good and delivery was as promised. All in all, very satisfied.

Panasonic NN-CD989S Genius "Prestige" 1.5 cuft 1100-Watt Sensor Convection Microwave with Inverter Technology, Full Stainless Steel

What an amazing machine
This new Panasonic Convection Microwave machine is hands down the best appliance in my kitchen and worth every penny. Here's why:

Positives:
1. Extremely well built - Solid precision latches make it sound like a Mercedes car door when you close it.

2. Intuitive - Very user friendly. Easy to figure things out without having to pour over the owner's manual, unlike a lot of other microwaves. The time knob lets you quickly dial in 10 second increments of time, or you can let the machine autosense when it's hot using the reheat mode. It has a digital readout which tells you the next step in the process on certain options and provides status of where you are at in the cooking cycle as well.

3. New Technology - The Inverter Technology provides much more even heat, with very few hot spots. When I warm hard refrigerated quarters of butter in the morning so I can spread it on my toast, it softens evenly, unlike my previous micro that melted a big hole...
Great product, wise investment
This is a very user friendly microwave. If you only use the microwave function, I am sure you'd be happy with it. But it's also a handy little oven. I have made pizzas, cookies, and even a pork loin roast in it! I cooked the pork loin using the combo cooking function (microwave plus convection) just to test it out. The results were very good; a nice moist roast. A 14-in round pizza pan or stone fits in it and also (just barely!) a 9x13 baking dish. And yes, you CAN put metal pans in it when in oven mode. When we first got it we set it up on the counter in our main kitchen for a couple weeks and played around with it. Then we moved it to our newly renovated "bar" in the basement which truthfully is a small, very functional kitchen. This oven is a great solution as we can use it for popcorn, etc. in microwave mode, but also bake pizzas. We're very disappointed, but hoping for a fix.
I purchased this convection microwave because my Sharp gave out after no less than twenty years of faithful service. Thanksgiving is two days away and my family has always used the convection microwave to heat or re-heat casseroles, appetizers, etc. I was thrilled by Amazon's fast shipping! It came right on time, but sadly the product just isn't what I need it to be.

The first thing I did (after set-up, of course) was test the convection temperature using a regular oven thermometer. I set it to 400 degrees, but it beeped to tell me it was preheated at 350 degrees. The family joined me in consulting the microwave's directions again, and finding no error there we considered a problem with the thermometer. After several shuffles between our oven and the new microwave we decided the thermometer was fine (even after it's tragic fall from the counter days earlier), but bought a new one just to be sure.
