These knives are perfect if you love to cook and work in the kitchen. Never thought that it would make that much difference but they are well worth the money! Great knives and a great buy.
perfectly designed cooking knives
I bought this set about 2 years ago. I still really enjoy cooking with these knives because they are so well designed. They are very comfortable to hold because of the handle contour and because they are PERFECTLY balanced in your hand. The blades are sharpened with a razor sharp edge that is unlike typical knives. These must not be run through a low-end sharpener, like Chef's Choice or other. To retain the OEM edge, you should have them professionally sharpened or buy a stone. I use all 3 of the knives in this set, but probably use the 8" chef's knife 70% of the time, the serrated knife 20% of the time and the paring knive about 10%. These knives rock!

Shun Pro 3-Piece Boxed Asian Chef Set

Fantastic Sub $400 knives + review from professional chef
This is a fantastic set of knives. I bought them for my wife. We enlisted the help of a professional chef to compare these Shun knives with the Masahiro MV-H 10 inch chef's knife. Wusthof Classic Ikon 3-Piece Knife Starter Set

I really wanted this knife set..BUT-....
I really fell in love with this knife set and really wanted a quality knife set. Wusthof is the best brand! I was very excited to receive it and when it arrived, the Amazon provider "E Plus" had sent me another set that was actually $80 cheaper than the one I ordered. they even deliberately mislabeled it to have the same product code (Wusthof 9601-1-$279.99) as the more expensive one. The one they sent with the wrong label on it was Wusthof knife set 9608-4 which is $80 cheaper!! Nice try E Plus! So...sadly I will never be able to tell you how wonderful these knives were because of the "switcheroo" by "E Plus". Do not order anything from these con artists.
Perfect starter set!
I started my Classic Ikon collection with this set and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade or replace their current knives. The knives in this set are the 3 that I use the most (daily) so for me this was a logical place to start. I can't say enough about the Classic Ikon line! These are by far the best knives I have ever owned.

Shun TDMS0300 Premier Knife Starter Set, 3-Piece

Very brittle & delicate
These knives look sexy as hell but be very careful,they are not for anything but slicing. I had mine for 1 day and broke the utility knife on a carrot;yes a carrot. I have been a chef for 30 years and wanted a high-end set for my home. I had not planned on cleaning racks of lamb or splitting lobsters but you would hope a knife could handle a carrot.On the fence about sending them back for Globals. Again,razor sharp but VERY thin & brittle.
Look great, razor sharp, probably not for eveyone
My wife loves these for their sharpness, handling and looks. The blades are really ultra thin. Its more obvious than I imagined when they were ordered. If you do not take well care of your knives they can easily end up with a broken tip as someone here said. So they are probably not for everyone. I took one star of due to relative utility: they are vulnerable in the wrong hands - and frankly, you can find other high end kitchen knives that cut as well. But they look super and makes their owner happy every day - and that's also worth something!
Best knife I've ever used.
Seriously sharp !!! A touch will cut you. Melts through meat and vegetables with virtually no pressure and is quite nice to hold. Very thin blades not made for "hacking" but for slicing. Fit and finish were perfect on all 3 knives in both sets I purchased. Holds an edge longer than any knive I've used but still needs a light touchup after a lot of veggie cutting. My Henkels and others are clubs by comparison.

Try one. You won't regret it :)
