FABULOUS Cookware + PFOA & PTFE concerns
To preface, I had become so sick and tired of having to 'soak & scrub' my stainless steel pots and pans with steel wool pads, (due to my husband's utter lack of culinary skill, thus burning the pans all the time), that I had been contemplating a Non-Stick set to see if that would work better for us, (well, really for me, *lol*).
Now, I was going to start with a single skillet, (what brand I didn't know), but when I saw Emeril's set, (over on 'H'), March 10-2013, I thought, 'what the heck', and went for the whole magilla. I got the 11-piece set in the CHAMPAGNE colour.
There are a few differences between the 10-piece set advertised on this page and the 11-piece set I got. They are:
1) The 11-piece set provides a lid for the 10" skillet.
2) The 3-qt saucepan in the 11-piece set has 2 'helper handles' as opposed to the one long handle featured in the 10-piece set.
3) The 11-piece set has a 5-qt sauteuse pan instead of the 3-qt in the...
Solid, dependable set
I have had the opportunity to review a couple of cookware sets, including the Rachael Ray Hard Anodized II Nonstick Dishwasher Safe 10-Piece Cookware Set, the Circulon Acclaim Hard Anodized Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set and T-fal E938SA74 Professional Total Nonstick Oven Safe Thermo-Spot Heat Indicator Dishwasher Safe 10-Piece Cookware Set. This is a typical basic cookware set, consisting of an 8-Inch Fry Pan, 10-Inch Fry Pan, 1.5 quart Sauce Pan with Lid, 3 quart Sauce Pan with Lid, 3 quart Sauté Pan with Lid, 6 quart Stockpot with Lid.
The pans feel fairly heavy and sturdy and they have silicone grip handles to prevent burned hands when removing hot lids. This set is rated as dishwasher safe unlike many sets. Even so, I would recommend against throwing these in the dishwasher - you'll find that you get far more life...
Nice Nonstick All-Clad Cookware
Emeril's Nonstick Cookware is a nice addition to the kitchen. Coated with nonstick finished Teflon, these will require some care in using. It is recommended that wooden or plastic coated utensil be used to stir food around during the cooking process. This is to prevent voiding the warranty and to keep from scratching off the Teflon. Cleaning is with mild soap and gentle scrubbing no steel wool allowed. If these procedures are followed, the cookware should last a good long time. Nice looking with silicone covers on the handles for heat protection. Pot covers are made of tempered glass so be careful not to drop. The cookware is safe to 450 F and the lids to 350 F. This makes these a good set of all around cookware. One nice thing is the reduction of oils and cooking sprays. These would make a great wedding gift or for just updating the cookware. I would definitely recommend this set of cookware.
