Great value
I've been buying a new better quality non-stick pan every 2 years. The cheap one's last about a year the better ones about 2 years or so depending on how much you use them and how you treat them (high heat/low heat, oven use etc.). Wishing I could find a better pan for under $50 I ran across this set at Costco. At $150 for the 15 part set I decided that this might be a better way to go. Even if these are in between the range of quality I've grown to expect they were a bargain. Not likely I'll be using these all as much as the one or two pans I used before so they should last at least a couple of years and still leave me with a bunch of lesser used pans still good for many years.
Now I see these are around $200 on Amazon (plus shipping) but do note that this set is no longer available at Costco. I am writing this review because I still think they are an excellent value. Having used them now for about 6 weeks I can say it's great to have the right pan for every job. They work...
A few tips I have learned...
This is my second set of Kirkland anodized cookware. On the older set it had metal lids now it's glass; much improved and the pans skillets are deeper. Some of the pans shapes have changed from the older set too.
My Omelets literally slide out of these pans and very few foods stick that I can't remove with just a paper towel (always recoat after use with shortening) I love this set and unlike Teflon (that is so yesterday) there is no flaking off to mix with your food. If you do have any Teflon cookware and it is peeling of flaking GET RID OF IT IMMEDIATELY.
One of the skillets is so shaped that it is excellent for deep frying home fries (see my pic)
My only complaint is that in this set a steamer is not included; (one star off)
Suggestions:
1. First off after washing you new set coat the interior with a shortening or like substance.
2. NEVER fry anything above MEDIUM-HIGH heat.
3. Never use any metal utensils...
Saw this same set on Costco .com...for $30 cheaper
After seeing the Kirkland name brand that I trust so much on Amazon, I decided to make sure I was getting the best price possible and did my homework.
I'm glad I did. I went on Costco's website and *surprise* I find the exact same set for $165 AND free shipping- over $30 cheaper than on here.
Caveat emptor.
